Did a gun jam save Tiger Shroff? CCTV shows shooter struggling to fire at close range

New Delhi: Did a gun malfunction prevent one of the attackers from firing at Tiger Shroff from close range during the shooting in Mumbai’s Juhu? CCTV footage of the October 18 attack has brought this possibility under scrutiny, with one of the suspected shooters appearing to struggle with his weapon while standing close to the actor’s BMW.

Preliminary findings have also added weight to the theory. Investigators recovered five empty shells and two full cartridges of 7.62 mm calibre from the scene. Police are examining whether a weapon malfunction could have caused one of the live cartridges to be ejected.

However, investigators have not concluded that a jammed gun was responsible for saving Tiger’s life, and the exact sequence of events remains under investigation.

Did shooter’s gun jam during Tiger Shroff attack?

CCTV footage from the scene shows two men approaching Tiger’s BMW and targeting the vehicle through the windshield and side window. While one attacker can be seen firing multiple rounds, the second man, positioned closer to the passenger side where Tiger was reportedly seated, appears to have difficulty operating his weapon.

The footage appears to show him switching the gun between his hands and repeatedly attempting to use it. No shot appears to be discharged from his weapon during those moments. Investigators are now examining whether the firearm malfunctioned during the attack. Police are also looking into whether one of the weapons used in the shooting was a Turkish-made Zigana pistol.

The ammunition recovered is being examined as part of the investigation. Early reports said seven rounds were used, five spent shells and two full cartridges.

While the footage has raised the possibility that another shot could have been fired at Tiger had the weapon worked, investigators have yet to establish whether the suspected malfunction played a decisive role in his escape.

What happened during firing at Tiger Shroff’s car?

The shooting took place on Sunday evening as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a football ground in Juhu after playing a match. The assailants opened fire at his BMW as it was leaving the area. Tiger escaped without a gunshot injury, but his driver, Firdaus, and another person suffered injuries.

Tiger was reportedly seated on the side targeted during the attack. After the firing began, he shifted towards the driver’s seat. The CCTV footage also appears to show a third suspect waiting on a motorcycle, allegedly to help the other two escape after the shooting.

Police later recovered the motorcycle suspected to have been used in the attack. It was allegedly abandoned near Andheri railway station. Investigators are checking its registration, number plate, chassis and engine details to trace its ownership history.

Three accused caught in Kota

Two men have been arrested and a juvenile detained in connection with the firing. The suspects include Rehan from Haryana, Hrithik Kumar from Bihar and a 17-year-old boy from Haryana. Acting on information from Mumbai Police, a joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police apprehended the three after they arrived in Kota aboard the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express.

Two other people have also reportedly been detained as investigators examine the wider network behind the attack. Mumbai Police initially registered the case at Juhu Police Station before transferring the investigation to the Mumbai Crime Branch.

An attempt-to-murder case has been registered under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

Police probe alleged Bishnoi gang connection

The investigation is also examining claims linking the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A purported social media post claiming responsibility for the shooting had surfaced after the incident. The gang has also allegedly issued threats against people associated with Salman Khan. Investigators are probing the authenticity of the claims and any possible connection with those arrested.

Hours before the arrests, an image believed to show two of the suspected shooters had surfaced. The two men were seen wearing white shirts, with one sporting a black cap.
