Telangana Premier Golf League set to begin on October 24

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Golf Association (HGA) formally inaugurated Season VI of the NMDC Telangana Premier Golf League (TPGL).

Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC, was the chief guest. Faheem Qureshi and former India cricketer Murali Kartik were the guests of honour, while former India left-arm spinner S L Venkatapathi Raju was the league’s brand ambassador.

Under the theme “Bigger, Bolder, Better,” Season VI will run from October 24 to November 22, featuring 16 teams and 192 golfers. Each team has a 12-player squad, with 10 players competing in each qualifying round.

Five different formats will test teamwork, precision, strategy and individual performance, with each team facing every group rival across the three doubles rounds. In the final qualifier, fourballs will feature one player from each team, creating three simultaneous singles contests for every golfer. All five qualifying rounds carry equal weight in points, making every format significant in the race for qualification.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals on November 11, followed by the semifinals on November 15 and the final on November 22. Knockout ties will combine four singles and two better-ball doubles matches, adding further tactical variety.

HGA president A Bhasker Reddy said, “TPGL reflects the spirit of HGA, bringing our members together through sport, fellowship and healthy competition. We wish every team a memorable season and thank our organisers, partners, staff and caddies for their contribution.”
