Rahul Gandhi targets Modi, Shah and CEC over ‘vote chori’, says BJP’s ‘expiry date’ nears

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar would face justice over alleged “vote chori”. He also claimed the BJP’s “expiry date” was approaching.

Addressing a public meeting in Margao, Goa, the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition accused the three of involvement in electoral malpractice. He urged voters to give Congress a full majority in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Allegations of vote theft

“Gyanesh Kumar implements the theft of votes, Amit Shah operationalizes it, and Narendra Modi orchestrates the entire plan from behind the scenes,” Rahul said. He questioned why he had not faced a defamation case specifically over his vote theft allegations.

“I am facing over 45 defamation cases—cases filed by Amit Shah, by Narendra Modi, and so on. Despite these 45 cases, I continue to state at every opportunity that Narendra Modi steals votes. Yet, no case has been filed against me specifically for this claim,” he said.

Rahul described Congress as a protector of the Constitution and said safeguarding it remained the party’s duty.

“Let me assure all Congress workers: PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar will face justice and will pay the price for what they have done.”

Claims over student protests

Rahul also accused authorities of using pellet guns against student protesters in Delhi. He linked the protests to concerns over alleged vote theft, jobs and education costs.

“Look at what is happening in Delhi today. Pellet guns are being fired at students because they are raising concerns about vote theft, employment and the rising cost of education.”

Turning to Goa, Rahul alleged that the state had become a “model” for corruption. He raised concerns about land conversion, alleged land grabbing, unemployment and the treatment of residents. He appealed for a full Congress majority to address these issues in the next Assembly elections.

Congress yatra concludes

Rahul joined the Congress’s ‘Goy Rakhon Yatra’ in Margao and walked around two kilometres with party leaders and workers. The 27-day campaign began on September 22, covered all 40 Assembly constituencies and concluded on Sunday. Congress said the campaign sought to protect Goa’s land, environment, cultural heritage and identity.
