CJP Tiranga March in Delhi: SC refuses urgent hearing on plea against Central Park closure
New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday refused to hear an urgent plea challenging the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) order to close Central Park in Connaught Place ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)’s ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march scheduled for the evening.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, declined to entertain the plea. According to PTI, the bench said, “We hope better sense will prevail on everyone. Small shopkeepers earn their livelihood during these days. We know the hardship and difficulty entire families will face.”
Various issues are interconnected: SC
The bench noted that various issues surrounding the protest, including the right to protest and concerns over law and order, were interconnected.
“Someone wants to protest, someone wants to sell ‘mungfali’, someone wants law and order. All these are related,” Justice Bagchi said, according to the agency. “If there’s loss of business, we will exercise our powers under Constitutional jurisdiction. Let’s cross that bridge when it comes,” Justice Bagchi added.
He further stated that the Supreme Court had ample jurisdiction to intervene if the measures were found to be disproportionate. The apex court may hear the matter on October 26 or 27.
Abhijeet Dipke says police may detain him
Earlier, on Thursday, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said that the Delhi Police might detain him ahead of the march scheduled for Friday.
“Tomorrow, we will peacefully go (to Central Park) and wave the Tiranga. As the citizens of this country, if you consider this to be a crime, then you are the biggest traitor,” he said on Thursday evening.
“If we have to go to jail for waving the tricolour, we are ready for it,” he added.
He further said, “If we say tomorrow that we will wave the Tiranga at 100 places, will you shut all 100 places? If you go to Narendra Modi’s rally tomorrow and wave the Tiranga, will the police cancel the rally? What a joke you have made.”
