Ashwini Rathod: A Journey from a Remote Village to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
Some journeys are built on privilege. Others are built on courage, responsibility and an unwavering belief in one’s own talent. Ashwini Rathod’s journey is one such story.

Ashwini hails from Gajarampally village in Mahamutharam Mandal of Bhupalapally district, a rural area where even today, there is no proper bus connectivity to her village. Coming from such a background, where opportunities are limited and getting a job itself is considered a major achievement, building a career in television and music was never going to be easy.
But music was always a part of Ashwini’s life.
Both of her parents were singers, and it was through them that her love for music began. Watching her parents sing, she developed an interest in music from a very young age. That early exposure gave her the spark that eventually became the driving force behind her career.
Ashwini studied up to Class 10 at ZPHS Girls School, Mahadevpur, completed her intermediate education at Tejaswini Junior College in Bhupalapally, and later pursued her degree at New Government Degree College, Khairatabad.
Her professional journey began in television. She worked with V6 for around three years and later spent about three years as a news presenter with Big TV. But while she was building her identity in television, she never wanted to let go of the passion for music that had been with her since childhood.
She started exploring folk and Banjara music, eventually creating and performing songs through her own channel. Her connection with Banjara music helped her develop a distinct identity and brought her closer to an audience that appreciated her voice and her roots.
For Ashwini, however, the journey was never only about finding fame.
She is the one who takes care of her entire family. Coming from a rural background, she understood how important it was to build a stable career. Every opportunity mattered. Every step had to be earned.
She could have chosen a safer path, but she did not want to lose the spark she had found in music.
That is what pushed her to enter the industry and try her luck.
And the journey was far from easy.
It took years of hard work, patience and persistence for Ashwini to build the identity she had always wanted. There were years of struggle behind the recognition that people see today. She continued to work, perform and pursue music without allowing the difficulties around her to make her give up.
Today, that long journey has brought her to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
For Ashwini, reaching this stage is not just another career opportunity. It is a moment that carries years of dreams, struggles, family responsibilities and the influence of the parents who first introduced her to music.
In an exclusive interview with us, Ashwini spoke about this journey and shared how happy she is to finally see her years of effort taking her towards the identity she always dreamed of.
Today, she says she is on cloud nine.
From a remote village where even basic bus connectivity remains a challenge, from a family where opportunities had to be created rather than simply found, Ashwini has made her own path.
Her story is ultimately about one thing never allowing circumstances to extinguish the spark within you.
And today, that spark is shining brighter than ever on the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa stage.
