Opposition March to Supreme Court To Begin Soon

The stage is set for the Opposition MPs’ march to the Supreme Court to file their plea against the Chief Election Commissioner.

The bus carrying the MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, which had left the Constitution Club about an hour back are behind schedule and are inching towards Barakhamba Road due to traffic jam as large number of Congress, left party and other political activists had converged in Delhi. This includes the Telangana Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, among others.

Unlike the earlier march where Rahul and others were stopped and detained, this time the police said they would allow the MPs to march towards the Supreme Court. A group of lawyers is also joining the march to the Supreme Court led by Congress leader and advocate Abhishek Manu Singvi.

Heavy police bandobust has been made at various places in Delhi and rope parties have been pressed into service from Barakhamba Road to the Supreme Court. Though the Congress continues to say that the delegation will meet the CJI and give a memorandum, this is not going to happen since the CJI had turned down their request and told lawyers not to turn the apex court into a political battleground. They would, at most meet the registrar and submit the PIL.

However, high drama is expected on Delhi roads for the next couple of hours.
