Vineet was found dead with his throat slit inside his flat in Kanpur’s Indira Nagar area on September 5. Shalu was initially arrested after police relied on allegations that she had arranged for two men to carry out the killing.

The investigation subsequently took a different turn, with police arresting her husband Subrat Minocha and examining his alleged links with the men accused of carrying out the attack.

Shalu Says She Knew Nothing About Murder Plot

Speaking to Aaj Tak after her release, Shalu said she had not suspected that Subrat was planning his father’s murder.

She said she and Subrat had attended a party on the day of the killing and that she did not notice anything unusual about his behaviour.

Shalu acknowledged that her husband had a strained relationship with his father but said she never imagined that their differences could lead to murder.

She also said she had not spoken to Subrat when police brought the couple face-to-face during questioning.

Court Releases Shalu On Personal Bond

A court ordered Shalu’s release on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 after investigators reported that they had not found independent, credible evidence establishing her involvement in the alleged conspiracy. She remains required to appear before the court or investigating officer whenever summoned.

The police investigation had initially focused heavily on Shalu after accused former employee Vishal Gautam allegedly claimed that she had hired him to kill Vineet.

Investigators later questioned that version of events and began examining whether Subrat had attempted to shift the blame onto his wife.

Police Probe Alleged Attempt To Frame Shalu

According to investigators, Subrat allegedly instructed Vishal to implicate Shalu if the accused men were caught.

Police also say a duplicate key was arranged for Vishal, who had previously worked for Vineet. Investigators are checking these claims against call records, CCTV footage, phone data and the movements of the people involved.

Police have also examined the communication between Subrat and Vishal. Earlier reporting said investigators were looking at around 258 calls exchanged between the two, along with other digital and circumstantial evidence.

Shalu Disputes Links To Alleged Shooter

Shalu also rejected claims that her conversation with Vishal indicated involvement in the murder.

She said she had spoken to him on the day of the party only because she had asked him to bring flowers for a rangoli. She denied knowing about any plan to kill Vineet or to implicate her in the case.

Police are continuing to examine the different accounts given by the accused and witnesses before reaching conclusions about the sequence of events.

Shalu Focuses On Her Six-Year-Old Son

Asked about her future relationship with Subrat, Shalu said she was not yet in a position to decide whether she could forgive him or continue the marriage.

She said she needed time to process what had happened and identified her six-year-old child as her immediate priority.

“I want him to know nothing about all this,” she said, adding that she wanted to return to her son and be with him.

The murder investigation remains ongoing, with police examining the alleged roles of the accused, their communications and movements surrounding Vineet Minocha’s death.
