‘If I don’t get justice, I will give up my life…’, girlfriend enraged by boyfriend’s arrest, tries to commit suicide by spraying petrol in the police station

Jabalpur News: There was a sudden commotion in Madan Mahal police station of Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh when a woman tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol on herself in front of policemen. The woman was extremely angry with the arrest of her lover and was making many serious allegations against the police administration like implicating an innocent person in a false case as well as demanding a bribe of lakhs of rupees to hush up the case. Due to this sudden horrific action inside the police station, an atmosphere of chaos was created there. However, the women policemen present there immediately showed alertness and caught the woman, due to which a major and unpleasant accident was averted.
This entire controversy is related to an old incident of stabbing that took place in September 2025. At that time, Madan Mahal police station had registered a case of attempt to murder and named three people as accused in this knife incident. In this case, the police had already arrested two accused and sent them to jail, while the third accused Lucky Marawi was out for a long time, whom the police has recently arrested and sent to jail. In protest against this arrest, a woman named Jayanti Yadav had reached Madan Mahal police station on Saturday. During a conversation inside the police station premises, the woman suddenly took out petrol from a can near her and poured it on herself. Seeing the woman doing this, the police staff became nervous and there was a situation of commotion and tension in the police station for a long time.
‘The real culprit is someone else, the police hid the evidence’
Jayanti Yadav, the woman who attempted self-immolation, has raised many serious questions on the police action. Jayanti alleges that Lucky Maravi is completely innocent in this entire matter and the police has unnecessarily dragged him into this case. He claims that Lucky has been caught in a knife attack case, the real accused is someone else. In the initial investigation after the incident, the police interrogated Lucky for a long time and after seeing many important evidences including CCTV footage of the area, they released him considering him innocent. Despite this, after several months had passed, the police suddenly arrested him again and sent him straight to jail.

‘5 lakh rupees were demanded in the name of ending the case’
Jayanti Yadav has also made sensational allegations of corruption against some officers of the police department. He said that for the last several months they were continuously cooperating in the police investigation. Whatever documents, evidence or evidence the police asked for, they were provided on time. Despite this he was not listened to. The woman alleged that some police officers had demanded a huge sum of Rs 5 lakh from her in exchange for removing Lucky’s name from the case and providing her relief. However, the woman also clarified that she does not know the names of the officials concerned who demanded the bribe. Furthermore, the woman said that at the time of his arrest, Lucky’s health was very bad and he was having frequent seizures, but the police completely ignored his serious health condition. Due to this inhuman treatment and mental stress, she became so distressed that she decided to take this suicidal step.
Statement of the station in-charge – ‘There will be a fair investigation into the allegations’
On this entire sensitive matter, Madan Mahal police station in-charge Dheeraj Raj says that all the allegations made by the woman will be investigated closely. According to police officials, the accused Lucky Maravi was not arrested due to any personal rivalry, but only on the basis of solid evidence and legal analysis available in the old case registered in the year 2025. Has been arrested as per rules. As far as the allegations of demanding bribe by the woman are concerned, it will also be investigated with complete impartiality and appropriate legal action will be taken on the basis of whatever facts come to light. However, this incident that took place inside the police station has sparked a new debate in administrative circles regarding the functioning of the police, pending investigation of old cases and the anger of the family members of the accused.
