Disha Salian Death Case: CBI FIR Names Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty And Others For Probe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR in relation to the death of the then celebrity manager Disha Salian, naming some big names who are meant to be investigated in the case.

The FIR, which was registered after the Bombay High Court had asked the agency to investigate into the matter in detail, names Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray and his father Uddhav Thackeray, the former Chief Minister of the Maharashtra government. Along with Rhea Chakraborty, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea and Showik Chakraborty (Rhea’s brother) have also been included among the actors whose roles are to be investigated.

The FIR says investigators will look at whether offences relating to the alleged criminal conspiracy and that Salian was killed in a fake account of the death, as well as whether evidence was suppressed, destroyed or fabricated, were committed.

Others also featured on the list are Aaditya Thackeray’s security personnel, former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

DCP Vishal Thakur and some former and serving police officers are also named. The FIR further refers to officers associated with Malvani Police Station, medical personnel linked to the post-mortem process and officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina, including Assistant Chemical Analyser NP Bhale.

Sushil Kumar Yadav, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and Shivmurad Gautam alias Munna, a security guard at the Regent Galaxy Building have also been mentioned. The FIR also mentions other senior police officers who have to be investigated as well as members of the previous Special Investigation Team.

On 8th June 2020 Salian was discovered dead after jumping from a building in Mumbai. However, less than a week before actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, her death took place.

Later, the Bombay High Court asked the question of why an ADR was initiated when there were allegations by her family members that she was a murderer. The court also noted that the family had not received a copy of the post-mortem report and ADR even several years after her death.

The CBI started looking into the circumstances leading to Salian’s death and her relatives’ allegations after the court issued such a direction.

Satish Salian, Salian’s father, stated that he had given investigating officers details of the circumstances of his daughter’s death.

He told ANI that he had provided the investigators with the names of several people with whom he wanted to speak and confirmed that these include Aaditya Thackeray, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea and security personnel.

Satish Salian said he was confident and the investigation would help to find out what happened to his daughter and he felt justice would prevail.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s Sister Shweta Singh Kirti has also responded to the development.

Shweta, in a video on social media, welcomed CBI investigation and hoped it would help bring out the truth about the death of Salian.

Salian’s death has been the subject of public and political debate, especially due to its proximity to Rajput’s death. The CBI investigation will now focus on the circumstances of her death and alleged and concerns of her family.
