Centre assures support for Telangana to host Khelo India Youth Games

Hyderabad: The Centre has assured full cooperation to the Telangana government for the successful conduct of the 8th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games–2026, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday.

A delegation from the Telangana government, led by Minister for Sports and Youth Services Vakiti Srihari, met Mr. Mandaviya at his office in Delhi and discussed various aspects relating to the conduct of the Games in the State.

During the meeting, Mr. Srihari said Telangana, with its strong sports infrastructure and world-class sporting facilities, was fully prepared to host the Khelo India Youth Games–2026 in Hyderabad and other venues across the State.

The Minister submitted a letter from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy requesting the Centre to permit the conduct of the Games from December 11 to 23, 2026.

Srihari said the State Government was making all necessary arrangements to conduct the sporting event to the highest standards. He expressed gratitude to the Union Government for allotting the prestigious Games to Telangana.
The Minister said the Telangana Sports Authority had already begun preparations for hosting the Games. Officials were working on arrangements relating to sporting venues, infrastructure, accommodation and other facilities required for athletes and officials.

The Union Minister called for close coordination between the Centre and the State government and urged both sides to work together to make the sporting event a success.

Mr.AP Jitender Reddy, Advisor (Sports) to the State Government, SATG chairman Shiv Sena Reddy and the SATG VC &MD Dr. Sonibala Devi were part of the delegation.
