Airtel drops Rs 299, Rs 319 prepaid plans among others; Adds Rs 349 package

Bharti Airtel has dropped its prepaid lineup, removing five plans from the shelves across India. The packs withdrawn include the famous Rs 299 and Rs 319 options, along with the Rs 579, Rs 619 and Rs 649 prepaid plans.

The point to be noted here is the exit of the Rs 299 plan, which used to give users 1.5GB of daily data over a 28-day cycle. Airtel has swapped it out for a Rs 349 pack that bumps daily data up to 2GB, keeping the same 28-day validity intact.

Practically, customers who relied on the earlier Rs 299 recharge will now need to spend an extra Rs 50 to stay connected. On the upside, the new pack add value to the deal with 500MB more data every day than what the discontinued plan offered.

Rs 319 Plan Dropped

The Rs 319 recharge plan, which was offering a 30-day validity rather than Airtel’s usual 28-day period, has also been discontinued. With the pack no longer available, customers seeking a monthly recharge will have to explore Airtel’s currently listed alternatives.

Rs 579, Rs 619, Rs 649 Plans Dropped

Rounding off the changes, Airtel has withdrawn the Rs 579, Rs 619 and Rs 649 packs entirely. None of these three recharges feature in the company’s active plan list any longer. The operator has kept some of its budget-friendly plans in place – the Rs 199 pack, for instance, still delivers 2GB of daily data across a 28-day validity period.
