ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International terror module busted in Punjab, grenade recovered

New Delhi: The police have busted an ISI sponsored Babbar Khalsa International BKI terror module by arresting a key operative and recovering a hand grenade, which allegedly helped prevent a planned attack DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Monday.

The arrested accused had allegedly collected the grenade from Jalandhar on the instructions of handlers based abroad the DGP said, as per news agency PTI.

Police foil alleged attack after tracking grenade to Jalandhar

DGP Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X that Counter Intelligence Jalandhar and SBS Nagar Police carried out a joint operation against the cross border terror network. The operation led to the arrest of a key operative and the recovery of an 86 P hand grenade which helped foil the alleged attack.

The preliminary investigation found that the accused had allegedly collected the grenade from a DLB near Adampur in Jalandhar on the instructions of handlers based abroad, the DGP said.

FIR filed as police dig deeper into alleged terror network

DLB or Dead Letter Box is a secret method used by terrorists handlers and organised crime groups to exchange instructions money or weapons without meeting each other directly. The police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS and the Explosive Substances Act, the DGP said.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete terror network including foreign based handlers local support groups and other links connected to the case.
