Father and son killin in accident
Baragada: Roshan Agrawal (48) and his son Tarun (12) were killed in a road accident at Sohela in Baragada district on Friday evening. According to reports, Roshan was travelling with his son on a scooter from the police station square towards the main square when a speeding truck, coming from behind, rammed into their scooter. The impact was so severe that the truck dragged the scooter from the police station square up to the Dak Bungalow. Tarun died on the spot. Roshan, who sustained critical injuries, was taken to Sohela hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Baragada. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The accident caused tension in Sohela. Local residents blocked the road to demand action and better road safety.

The protest continued until around midnight. Sohela tehsildar Shubharanjan Nayak, Baragada Additional SP Dolamani Bhoi, Padampur SDPO Pandab Sabar and Sohela police station IIC Harishankar Bhoi, along with officials from Melchhamunda and Padampur police stations, reached the spot and held discussions with the protesters.
The road blockade was withdrawn after the administration and police assured the agitators that necessary assistance would be provided. Baragada MP Pradeedp Purohit and Bhatli MLA Irasis Acharya expressed deep grief over the tragic deaths of the father and son.
Sohela residents are increasingly concerned over the unsafe National Highway passing through their area. Locals have warned of upcoming agitations unless comprehensive road improvements and adequate safety measures are implemented.
