40 held after Whitefield police raids

Bengaluru: Police belonging to Bengaluru’s Whitefield division launched a large-scale operation early on Saturday to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants. Officers struck at thirty separate sites falling under six police stations and took roughly forty individuals whose papers raised doubts into custody for questioning.

Checks extended to sheds located in the Varthur neighbourhood and to zones containing more than one hundred such structures, where every man and woman present had personal documents examined.

Those detained had their Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and voter identity cards inspected. Anyone displaying inconsistencies in the papers or in the answers supplied was escorted to the station for further interrogation.

Officers specifically sought SIR particulars together with information about each person’s native village, post office and local police station, comparing the spoken details against the written records.

Whitefield division DCP Saidulu Adavath stated that the drive follows directions issued by the Police Commissioner.

Should foreign nationals surface during the checks, their documents undergo verification.

Any lingering suspicion prompts deeper inquiry and production before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office. Once formalities conclude, those verified as living illegally face deportation to their home country.
