Union Minister G Kishan Reddy attacks Rahul Gandhi over remark in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Wednesday attacked the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The remarks were made during the debate on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, popularly known as the anti paper-leak Bill.

Reddy took to social media platform, ‘X’, to criticise the remarks made by the Congress Leader. He wrote, “The manner in which the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, repeatedly used the unparliamentary term on the floor of the House amounts to an insult to the 140 crore people of India. Every word he uttered reflected irresponsibility and a deliberate attempt to undermine the dignity of democratic institutions.”

He said that Gandhi tried to take political mileage out of the recent student protests. But when he failed, he had resorted to making reckless and irresponsible remarks against the Central Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that Gandhi was making such remarks due to frustration and anger.

Reddy further said that Gandhi was not able to understand the aspirations of the people, and also was unable to come to terms with the repeated electoral defeats of the Congress Party.

He then accused the entire Congress leadership of increasingly relying upon personal abuse instead of constructive politics. He said that such behaviour reflects its frustration, political immaturity and lack of democratic temperament.

PM Narendra Modi intervened in Jantar Mantar protest: Reddy

Reddy further said that even during the recent students’ protest at Jantar Mantar, PM Narendra Modi personally intervened to facilitate a resolution. The Union Minister said that the PM engaged with the students in a language they could relate to the language of Gen-Z and helped bring the agitation to a peaceful conclusion.

He said that Rahul Gandhi was unable to digest the fact that the agitation had been handled so well by the PM and therefore both he and his party, the Congress, resorted to personal abuse. This, according to the Minister, “exposed their (Congress’) political bankruptcy.

Reddy demanded an apology from Gandhi. He said, “Insulting the Prime Minister is, in effect, insulting the democratic verdict of 140 crore Indians who have repeatedly reposed their faith in his leadership. Rahul Gandhi must, therefore, tender an unconditional apology to the people of India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.”

He concluded by saying that Indian politics should revolve around constructive debates on public policy, governance, development and solutions to people’s problems. He accused the Congress leadership of continuing to rely on personal attacks, derogatory remarks and cheap political rhetoric instead of meaningful discourse. He said that the people of India will not endorse such politics.
