‘Toxic’ OTT Deal Reportedly Slashed After Poor Box Office Performance
Yash’s latest film Toxic had a disappointing theatrical run despite generating significant pre-release buzz. Although the makers succeeded in creating a huge buzz on the movie ahead of the release, the audience were completely disappointed with the storyline and interruptive action sequences. But the movie could manage to cross 100 crore gross on day one but later witnessed a steep downfall with the negative word of mouth. On the whole, the movie managed to cross 300+ crore mark within a week and silently disappeared from the screens.

Well, Toxic also made it to headlines by rejecting the 150-crore OTT deal reportedly confident about the film’s theatrical prospects. However, things completely turned up-side-down post-release and thus the makers are facing a massive OTT setback. According to the sources, the ₹150Cr pre-release offers have reportedly dropped sharply after the film’s poor theatrical response. Zee Studios is now said to be the only platform interested, offering just ₹30Cr for the digital rights.
As the movie is made with a whopping budget of 500-1000 crores, it fell short of its estimated break-even target post-release. But the makers were hoping to recover their budget through a massive OTT deal. So finally, reported reduction in OTT offers has added to the film’s financial challenges.
On the other hand, the movie also had an ensemble cast of Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. Being an Indian psychological thriller gangster film, it was helmed by Geetu Mohandas and is bankrolled under the KVN Productions banner.
