Tata Safari EV, launch planned during festive season@22.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Tata Motors is setting the stage ready to launch its electric version of the Safari. This would be the company’s flagship EV when it is launched. The new Electric SUV would be available in both configuration RWD as well as AWD configuration unlike the regular Safari.

When it comes to design, the overall design will not have changes; it would remain similar to ICE-counterpart, Even though there could be few changes such as revised bumpers, tail lamps tweaked, a closed front section, aero-optimised alloy wheels and EV badging. When it comes to cabin, they might consider being more technology focused.

The major highlight would be triple screen setup consisting of digital driver’s display, central infotainment screen, and the vehicle would have dedicated passenger display. Other expected features could be 540 degree camera, ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, connected car technology and premium Dolby Atmos and Audio system.

The Safari EV is expected to use Tata’s Acti. EV+ architeture and could receive 65kWh and 75kWh battery options. There is also speculation with regards that the vehicle would have a larger 80 kWh battery pack for higher variants. AWD version may use a dual motor setup similar to the Harrier, which produces up to 504 Nm of the combined torque.

In the month of June this year, TATA Safari was spied testing for the first time in India. The Tata Safari EV is set to launch in India during festive season, this year. The Tata Safari EV price is expected to be around Rs.22.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The TATa’s new flagship electric offering and first three row EV, the Safari would rival the likes of Mahindra XEV 95.
