Take measures to ensure all eligible persons receive ration and nutritious food State Food Commission Chairman Goli Srinivas Reddy

Adilabad: Telangana State Food Commission Chairman Goli Srinivas Reddy has instructed the officials to take steps to ensure that the National Food Security Act-2013 is strictly implemented in Adilabad district and that the benefits of ration, nutritious food and food security schemes are properly provided to everyone who is eligible. He participated in a high-level review meeting held at the Collectorate Conference Hall on Wednesday as part of a two-day field tour of Adilabad.

Speaking on the occasion,Srinivas Reddy said that name boards should be set up in Anganwadi centers, welfare hostels and ration shops and the details of the relevant officials, complaint procedure and toll-free numbers should be displayed clearly for the public. He said that there should be no negligence in providing quality and nutritious food to the students. He said that during the inspections conducted in tribal welfare residential schools and junior college hostels as part of the field trip, some shortcomings were found in the timing of meals, menu implementation, kitchen hygiene, maintenance of cooking equipment and supervision of officials. He directed the staff to perform their duties with full responsibility in the context of implementing large-scale programs for the welfare of students with government funds.

Food Commission member Oraganti Anand said that every eligible has the right to get nutritious food through the Food Security Act. pregnant and lactating women should be provided with nutritious food, necessary medical services and special care. He said that children should be provided with Balamrut, milk, eggs through Anganwadis and mid-day meal as per the prescribed menu for school students. He said that the Food Commission has the authority to take action against those responsible for violations in the implementation of food security rights.

District Collector Rajarshi Shah said that about 4,500 metric tons of rice are being distributed every month to 7,44,404 units of 2,27,477 ration cards through 2,566 ration shops in the district. He explained that currently 20 ration dealer posts are vacant, and there are 10 vacancies each in Utnoor and Adilabad divisions.

He said that newly issued digital smart ration cards are being distributed to the eligible people and transparency is being given utmost priority in the ration distribution process.

He ordered that quality meals be provided to students, the prescribed menu be implemented, necessary training be given to cooks, helpers and wardens, health profiles of students be maintained
