‘Super Subbu’ set for July 2 premiere

The quirky village of Maakipur is all set to welcome audiences into a world of misunderstandings, laughter and unexpected life lessons with Super Subbu, the first Telugu original series from Netflix. Headlined by Sundeep Kishan, the series premieres globally on July 2.

At the heart of the story is Subramanyam “Subbu” Chillukuri Rao, a teacher who finds himself posted to the fictional village of Maakipur, a place no educator wishes to be assigned to. Hoping to prove himself, Subbu instead lands the most unexpected responsibility of all — teaching sex education in a conservative rural setting where every conversation quickly turns into gossip and confusion.

The series blends comedy with social themes, following Subbu as he navigates awkward situations, eccentric villagers and a series of hilarious misunderstandings that slowly transform both him and the community around him.

Speaking about the show, Sundeep Kishan revealed that the series approaches sensitive subjects with humour, warmth and honesty while showcasing the chaos surrounding Subbu’s personal and professional life.

Mithila Palkar plays an aspiring actor and influencer, while Murali Sharma appears as Subbu’s father, Kukateshwar Rao. The cast also includes Brahmanandam, Getup Srinu, Maanasa Choudhary and Jeevan in pivotal roles.

Written by Mallik Ram, Ramesh Eligeti and Shivani Dhobal, the coming-of-age comedy promises a refreshing mix of humour, heart and small-town charm.
