New Delhi: What began as a normal study session ended in a major financial shock for an Indian family after an eighth grade student allegedly spent Rs 42000 on Roblox using his father’s phone. In a social media post that has now gone viral the boy’s brother said he discovered the spending only after almost all the virtual currency had already been used leaving just 100 Robux in the account.
The family then turned to the internet for help hoping to recover the money because they urgently needed it for school fees and loan repayments.

In his post the brother wrote that the boy had taken their father’s phone saying he was going to study but instead started playing Roblox. He claimed the child spent Rs 42000 on the game and almost all the Robux had already been used.
Roblox is a popular online gaming platform where users can play millions of games created by other players. Robux is the virtual currency used on the platform to buy avatars clothes accessories and special game features.
Internet suggests bank and Roblox refund options
The brother said the family was going through a difficult financial situation and asked if there was any way to get the money back. He said the loss had left his father without enough money to pay school fees or repay an existing loan.
As the post became widely shared many social media users advised the family to immediately contact both the bank and Roblox to try and get a refund.

Social media calls for refund and financial lessons
One user suggested reaching out to Roblox support and said the boy’s account could be banned if the refund was approved adding that it would be a fair lesson. Another user said the family should report the transactions directly to Google and request a refund because the amount spent was far too high.
A third person advised contacting the bank and asking for a chargeback on all the purchases. The user also said the boy’s Roblox account would most likely be permanently banned but added that the experience could teach him not to spend money that did not belong to him. Another user said it was surprising that a student studying in Class 8 did not understand the value of money. The person added that the parents should teach him financial responsibility and self control because these are important life skills.
