Ramayana trailer reactions: What are movie buffs saying about Ranbir Kapoor, Yash’s epic?

New Delhi: The official trailer of the and Yash starrer was unveiled on Thursday (July 30), and it opened to mixed reviews. While some praised the VFX and grand spectacle, others felt that the visuals are underwhelming compared to their expectations.

Some even trended Prabhas’ film Adipurush after the Ramayana trailer release. as Lord Ram also received mixed reactions.

“RAMA THE WARRIOR 😭❤️🏹 I’M SOLD HERE!#Ramayana,” wrote another sharing the introductory scene of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.

One user wrote, “#Ramayana Trailer 🙁 Half Cartoon & Half Serial Feel🙄 Not Everybody can become a Rajamouli!!”

 

Sharing a visual of the fight between Jatayu and Ravana, after he abducts Sita, a user called it the “greatest shot from the trailer”.

“That’s NOT just a tiger in the #Ramayana trailer. That is Krodha, Ravana’s ferocious, monstrous war-beast. Peak Detailing By Nitesh Tiwari,” wrote a person sharing a glimpse of Yash with Krodha.

Another shared, “An avg Indian is going to be impressed by this trailer he cares only about the emotions u’ll feel when: Lakshman bows to Ram with folded hands. When Ram was leaving his Ayodhya with teary eyes. The emotions just need to connect & the movie will create HISTORY….#Ramayana.”

Sharing an opinion on Ramayana trailer, a user wrote, “#Ramayana trailer looks much better than the first teaser. However, this film may become a prime example of why relying heavily on CGI, complete green screens, and virtual environments can never fully match the authenticity of practical locations. While some sequences look stunning, several others feel bland and almost AI generated. The lighting in a few scenes also looks artificial, making it quite obvious they were shot on studio green screens. The cast, however, looks excellent, especially Yash, who is terrific as Ravana. while Sai Pallavi looks graceful as Sita. As for Ranbir, there’s no reason to doubt him, he’ll most likely deliver in the final product.”

Another wrote, “Hands down, the best trailer I’ve ever watched. 🔥 #Ramayana is on another level! The visuals are breathtaking, the VFX look world-class, and every frame feels cinematic. It’s 100,000x better than Adipurush’s trailer. Ranbir Kapoor looks phenomenal as Lord Ram, and Yash absolutely owns every second he’s on screen as Ravana. With a reported ₹1,500 crore budget (including marketing), ₹3,000 crore worldwide is absolutely achievable if the film delivers on this scale. A truly mind-blowing trailer.”

Another shared, “After watching the #Ramayana teaser, one thing is clear: this story should never be squeezed into a single film. It deserves at least 5 to 6 chapters to do justice to its scale, characters, and emotions. This is exactly where #Adipurush went wrong. Some stories aren’t meant to be rushed.”

“#RamayanaTrailer looks stunning! Miles ahead of #Adipurush. #RanbirKapoor looks incredible, and #Yash as #Ravana absolutely steals the show. 🔥 My only gripe: it’s missing that one goosebumps-worthy money shot. BGM is hit & miss, but overall, I’m excited! #Ramayana,” wrote another.

Another praised Sai Pallavi and wrote, “#SaiPallavi as Maa Sita looks so Elegant!💗#Ramayana #RamayanaTrailer #Tollywood.”

One user missed Sunny Deol as Hanuman in the trailer. He wrote, “After watching Ramayana trailer, It feel like this one is far far far better than Adipurush. Better Actors, better Direction, better VFX. And many more things that make Ramayana better, this gonna be a big hit. The only this I miss in trailer ‘The Hanuman ji’.”

About Ramayana

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yas as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Anupam Kher as Jatayu, and Arun Govil as King Dasharath. The film also features Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kajal Aggarwal, among others.

The four-minute trailer shows VFX by Oscar-winning studio DNEG, known for its work on Dune, Tenet, First Man, Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar and Inception. The film’s music is by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.

Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release, while Ramayana: Part 2 will release during Diwali 2027.
