PM Modi Marks 25 Years In Government, Gives ‘We Will Do It’ Call For India’s Future
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 25 years since he first assumed the post of Gujarat chief minister, using the occasion to call for renewed determination towards India’s development goals.

Speaking at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, Modi called on people to take the message “We will do it” as a collective will. During the speech, he repeated the slogan which was enthusiastically received during the gathering.
Modi Completes 25 Years In Government
It is 25 years since Modi was sworn in as Gujarat’s chief minister in 2001. Both Keshubhai Patel and he were succeeded as the 14th chief minister of the state.
On the occasion, Modi noted that it was not a time to reminisce on his political journey. Instead, he called it an occasion for revitalizing the country’s commitment to its future.
He said the day should be used to “fill our resolve with new energy” and reiterated the message: “We will do it.”
PM Modi Calls For Renewed National Resolve
Modi’s address focused on turning the anniversary into a broader call for collective action rather than simply celebrating his political journey.
He said the country’s future would require fresh energy and determination from citizens, party workers and volunteers.
The Prime Minister has previously linked India’s development ambitions to the goal of building a developed nation by 2047. In an earlier interview, he described the next 25 years as crucial for achieving that objective and said national goals would require participation across different sections of society.
Three Ambitious Goals Highlighted
During his address, Modi also outlined three major goals before the gathering, with the audience responding to each with the “we will do it” refrain.
The emphasis was on converting national aspirations into collective action and maintaining momentum towards long-term development objectives.
The Prime Minister’s broader vision for India has included economic growth, improving living standards, strengthening infrastructure, creating opportunities for young people and building the capabilities needed to make India a developed nation by 2047.
From Gujarat Chief Minister To Prime Minister
Modi started his political career as the leader of a government in Gujarat in October 2001. He served as the chief minister till 2014 when the Bharatiya Janata Party swept the Lok Sabha elections and he became Prime Minister.
Since then he has held the position of Prime Minister for almost 13 years, in total, which places the 7th of October as a milestone of 25 years of uninterrupted executive public service.
Celebrating the milestone, Modi expressed gratitude to party workers and volunteers with whom he had developed a long association while in politics and said that the day should be a reminder of the responsibilities that lie ahead.
Focus On India’s Long-Term Development
The “We will do it” message comes against the backdrop of Modi’s stated objective of transforming India into a developed country by 2047.
In previous remarks, he has argued that achieving this goal would require participation beyond governments and political institutions, with individuals and organisations setting their own targets for the next 25 years.
The October 7 address similarly placed emphasis on collective resolve, with Modi urging people to look beyond the anniversary and focus on the challenges and goals ahead.
