Padma Shri Dr Sanjay takes Road Safety Mission to Sikkim
Dehradun: Padma Shri awardee and AIIMS Guwahati President Prof. Dr B K S Sanjay combined road safety advocacy, academic outreach and national service during a visit to Sikkim.

Addressing students and faculty at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences and NIT Sikkim, the renowned orthopaedic and spine surgeon described road safety as a major public health concern and national responsibility. He stressed adherence to traffic rules, use of helmets and seat belts, and avoiding speeding, distracted and drunk driving.
Dr Sanjay also met Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur and presented his book Bharat Mein Sadak Durghatnayen, co-authored with Dr Gaurav Sanjay.
During a visit to Nathu La Pass, Army personnel briefed him on its strategic significance, Silk Route history and importance for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Dr Sanjay urged stronger road-safety education and enforcement, saying every life saved on the road was a victory for the nation.
