OpenAI Says ChatGPT Can Now Write Like You Using Your Messages

OpenAI wants ChatGPT to sound like real people. Now many individuals use AI tools to help with writing or fix grammar. This has led to a growing concern, about something called “AI slop”—content that feels obviously generated by artificial intelligence. OpenAI now says ChatGPT can learn to write like you do, making its words feel more natural and human. To make this work you have to let the AI see your messages. That way it can understand your style. Match it.

The official ChatGPT account on X announced the Writing Style feature for ChatGPT Work. According to the company this Writing Style tool will learn how you write. Then copy that style into the next drafts. It will remember the things that make your writing yours like the way you use capital letters or the phrases you always use. The post said that ChatGPT Work can now notice what makes your writing sound like you: your phrases, your own sign‑offs and your capital‑letter habits.

It is worth noting that this feature is only available on the agent-enabled AI tool ChatGPT Work. OpenAI has not shared any information about whether this feature will appear on the standard ChatGPT chatbot.

How does ChatGPT Work learn to write like you?

If you want ChatGPT to write in your style OpenAI says you need to connect the apps you use every day. These include things, like Gmail, Google Drive, Slack and SharePoint.

Once you give ChatGPT Work access to these apps the tool can look through your emails and messages to learn how you write. OpenAI says the AI can then use those writing patterns when it creates text later on.

Although OpenAI does not give the details of this feature the AI probably uses natural language processing. In that process the AI looks at your writing samples to find patterns and habits—such, as the words you use, the tone you have, how you build sentences and where you put punctuation. The AI then splits the text into parts to see what words you choose, the feelings you show and other special traits of your writing. This lets the AI start copying those patterns making the new text look as if you wrote it.

Availability of the “Writing Styles” feature in ChatGPT Work

According to OpenAI the “Writing Styles” feature is available on the web version for all paid plans that include access to ChatGPT Work. You can set it up directly on the web or through the “Settings” section, under customization options.

It is worth mentioning that OpenAI is not the artificial intelligence laboratory that tries to make its tool copy how people write. Earlier Anthropic introduced styles features for Claude that let users upload or paste text samples and build a style based on their own way of communicating.

The “Writing Styles” feature comes out a few days after OpenAI introduced GPT-6 Astra calling it its strongest AI model ever. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has also called Astra an “AGI” (Artificial General Intelligence).
