Monsoon hair care: Five simple ways to manage greasy hair

Hyderabad: Monsoon may offer a break from the heat, but the humidity can make hair care tricky. If your scalp feels oily and your hair starts looking greasy soon after washing, the weather could be one of the reasons.

High humidity can increase sweat and oil on the scalp. Since moisture does not evaporate as quickly, the scalp can feel sticky, while damp weather, pollution and rainwater can add to the buildup.

Here are a few simple ways to manage greasy hair during the monsoon.

Wash your scalp regularly

If you have an oily scalp, avoid going too long between washes. Use a mild shampoo and concentrate on cleaning the roots.

Use conditioner carefully

Conditioner can make hair feel smooth, but applying too much near the roots can make greasy hair look heavier. Focus on the mid-lengths and ends.

Dry your hair properly

Avoid keeping your scalp damp for long periods. If you get caught in the rain, rinse your hair when possible and dry it thoroughly.

Clean your hairbrush

Oil, sweat and product residue can collect on brushes and transfer back to clean hair. Wash your brush regularly.

Go easy on styling products

Heavy oils, serums and creams can weigh down hair in humid weather. Lighter products may be a better choice.
