Modi: Ensure transparency in governance

New Delhi: on Wednesday asked Union ministers to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance so that citizens can be confident that government welfare schemes and policy initiatives reach them without red tape or leakages.

During the ongoing ‘Chintan Shivir’, Modi told ministers to drive government schemes forward with a focus on ‘Jan Vishwas’ and ‘Jan Bhagidari’ to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, sources said.

The meeting lasted around 4.5 hours, with the ministers divided into eight groups. Each group was seated at a separate table, and PM Modi visited each table individually, interacting directly with the ministers in every group, sources added.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the potential of India’s youth and their crucial role in achieving the goal of a developed India through innovation, skill development and active participation.

According to the sources, the discussions also focused on shifting governance from a top-down administrative process towards a community-led movement, with greater citizen participation in the implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.

The ministers were also asked to align ministry goals, infrastructure development and socio-economic reforms with the long-term objective of transforming India into a fully developed nation.
