Meerut’s infamous ‘blue drum murder’ house to be cleaned and ‘purified’ post Diwali
New Delhi: Nearly 19 months after merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput was killed inside a rented house in Meerut, it is set for a ‘ritualistic’ purification. The ritual is reportedly intended to cleanse the place of the memories of the crime.

The house owner, Ompal Singh was quoted by the Times of India as saying that a “”shuddhikaran” (purification ritual) and a “havan” would be held after Diwali in the part of the house where Rajput was murdered.
He further said that the house would be thoroughly cleaned and painted, before it is put to use again.
The house where the murder of the Navy personnel happened is situated in Meerut’s Brahmapuri area. It was sealed on March 3, 2025, when the murder was discovered. The man was killed by his wife, Muskan and her lover, Sahil. They cut up his body into pieces and put it in a blue-coloured drum and then sealed it with cement.
The case became known as the ‘Blue drum murder’ case. Now both Muskan and her lover have been convicted for the crime and have been sentenced to death.
Last Wednesday, the house where the murder took place was opened, in the presence of police personnel. The police personnel broke open the lock and took out the things inside. The belongings of the deceased man, Saurabh were handed over to his brother, Bablu.
For Saurabh’s family, returning to the house was an ordeal. His brother, Bablu and mother, Renu Devi were emotional and broke down in tears when they entered the room where he was killed.
Saurabh was killed by his wife and her lover. Both the accused were arrested on March 18,2025.
The Allahabad High Court is set to hear an appeal by Muskan and Sahil against the death sentence granted to them, on November 30. The sentence was awarded to them by a Meerut Court.
