King’s first song Tu Mil Jaaye out: SRK-Deepika turn up the heat, Ed Sheeran raps with Arijit Singh

New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan turned his 61st birthday into a musical celebration for fans as the makers of King released the film’s first song, ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, on November 2. Featuring Khan alongside , the track brings romance, dance and action together, but its biggest talking point is arguably the musical collaboration between Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran.

The song gives audiences an early glimpse of the pairing’s chemistry in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action entertainer. It also offers a look at the contrasting sides of Shah Rukh’s character, who moves between romantic moments with Deepika and intense action sequences.

The music video opens with Shah Rukh Khan delivering a dramatic dialogue, “Main qaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooka, aur woh aashiq hi kya jo dil cheer na de.” The line introduces the romantic yet dangerous side of his character before the track moves into an upbeat dance sequence.

Shah Rukh and Deepika share several romantic moments in the video, with elaborate visuals and dance sequences adding to the presentation. Deepika makes a glamorous appearance, while Shah Rukh also gets a moment to showcase his chiselled physique.

However, the video does not remain limited to romance. It shifts between dance, intimate moments and action, showing Shah Rukh’s character dealing with enemies and gangsters. Another dialogue towards the end sets a more intense tone: “Par is baar dil mein aag lagi hai, ab duniya jalaye bina maanega nahi.”

Interestingly, the song’s visual style has also drawn comparisons with Pathaan. A Variety India review noted similarities with Besharam Rang and Jhoome Jo Pathaan, which also featured Shah Rukh and Deepika under Siddharth Anand’s direction.

Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran’s vocals

Beyond the lead pair, the coming together of and Ed Sheeran is another major highlight of Tu Mil Jaaye. Arijit lends his voice to the Hindi portions, while Ed features with an English rap. Madhubanti Bagchi also contributes vocals to the track.

The song has been composed by Sachin Jigar, with Kumaar writing the Hindi lyrics. Ed Sheeran has penned the English rap, while choreography has been handled by Piyush Shazia.
