Kamal Haasan hails MS Subbalakshmi’s unifying musical legacy at the launch of her biopic
The much-awaited MS Subbulakshmi biopic was officially launched at a grand event that was organized at The Music Academy, in celebration of the 110th birth anniversary of the legendary singer. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan was the chief guest to attend the ceremony, and he gave the clap for the first shot that included Rashmika Mandanna.

Speaking at the launch, Kamal Haasan recalled MS Subbulakshmi’s ability to connect people together with her music, even across several languages and geographic regions. He spoke highly about the team’s efforts to take on the responsibility of the project of bringing the legendary woman’s incredible life to the young generation, and he wished the project all the best.
Rashmika will be seen in the role of iconic Bharat Ratna-winning singer, and ‘Jersey’ film director Gowtam Tinnanuri will be directing this pan-India project. Anirudh Ravichander is composing music, while Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh and Bunny Vas are producing the film.
Gowtam Tinnanuri revealed that his team spent almost a year digging into the life of M.S. Subbulakshmi.
He stated the film will not only tell the story of the legendary woman’s achievements as a legendary musician, but also of the struggles, sacrifices, discipline and perseverance that she experienced to get there.
Rockline Venkatesh reveals the project has been in the works for seven to eight years, while Allu Aravind says that Rashmika was selected after much discussion of finding an actor who could embody the legendary personality.
Rashmika shared her gratitude for the offer, and vowed that she would take on the role with total dedication. Further details about the film are expected to come out soon.
