‘Just silly little slang, calm down’: Guru Randhawa reacts to Fine Shyt controversy
New Delhi: After Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa released his latest song ‘Fine Shyt’ on Thursday (August 6), he was brutally trolled and faced massive backlash over the song. Many called the song “misogynistic” towards female corporate workers and further called it “cringe”.
Now, the singer has finally addressed the controversy and said that he is “guilty as charged”.
What did Guru Randhawa say?
Guru Randhawa shared a video of himself driving a Porche on an empty road on desert and wrote on Instagram, “Guilty as charged of making songs that repeat in your head forever. Low-key loving the edits though. No bad vibes! It’s just a silly little slang… calm down calm down calm down fam.”

Before, addressing the controversy directly, he shared a cryptic post while sitting near the holy Amrit Sarovar as he visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
He wrote in Punjabi, “Whom Waheguru blesses, no storm can ever shake. When Baba Nanak holds someone’s hand, they only keep moving forward.”
What’s the controversy all about?
The music video ‘Fine Shyt’ begins with a disclaimer which states that all people in the video are above 18 and it’s a work of fiction. Set in an office, Guru Randhawa plays a senior professional, surrounded by young female colleagues. It shows Guru Randhawa working as female colleagues dance around him.
However, it did not sit well with many who called him out for allegedly sexualising workspaces and questioning treatment of women in the video.
Meanwhile, singer Tony Kakkar also took a playful jibe at Guru and said while pretending to be on a phone call with him in a video on Instagram, “Yes, Guru bhai! What have you done, yaar? You did it all by yourself and didn’t even tell me. Would I have picked up your call? No, no, I don’t answer anyone’s calls, but I would definitely have picked up yours.”
