Helmet campaign wins global honour
New Delhi: Delhi’s road-safety campaign ‘Helmet Wearing–Consequences’ has received international recognition, securing an Honourable Mention in the Ultra Short Video category at the World Safety 2026 Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.

The campaign, run by the Delhi Transport Department, was recognised under the International Safety Media Awards, which honour safety-focused communication initiatives from around the world.
Launched in August 2025, the campaign promotes helmet use among two-wheeler riders and pillion passengers, stressing that helmets are meant not merely to comply with traffic rules but to protect lives.
The campaign received an Honourable Mention in the Ultra Short Video category at the 2026 safety conference in Cape Town.
Entries for the International Safety Media Awards are assessed on factors including communication clarity, creativity, innovation, production quality, evaluation methods and outcomes.
Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the recognition would encourage continued road-safety communication and public awareness efforts, complementing enforcement measures.
