HDK predicts coalition govt in Karnataka after 2028 polls

Hassan: Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy has expressed confidence that a coalition government will come to power in Karnataka after the 2028 Assembly elections, predicting a major political shift in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Hassan, Kumaraswamy said the Congress would have faced a serious decline without Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He recalled his political battles with Siddaramaiah but questioned the developments surrounding the chief minister in recent months. “Without Siddaramaiah, the Congress would have been finished long ago. I have fought major political battles against him. But look at what is happening now to finish him politically,” Kumaraswamy said.

He added that those currently enjoying power should not assume that the situation would remain unchanged. “Will you remain in power forever? Let one year pass, and you will see what happens,” he said. Referring to the forthcoming opening of the Hasanamba temple, Kumaraswamy said he would speak further while visiting the temple. He also expressed surprise over Siddaramaiah’s silence on certain recent political developments.

The Union Minister also raised questions about an alleged sting operation linked to the controversy surrounding Siddaramaiah. He argued that the person claiming responsibility for conducting the sting should be questioned as part of the investigation.“If the person himself says that he conducted the sting operation, what more evidence is needed to investigate the matter?” Kumaraswamy asked.

He alleged that a woman party worker had been questioned about Siddaramaiah and was asked to make statements concerning the chief minister. He also questioned why the person allegedly responsible for the sting operation had not been dealt with by the authorities.
