Hardik Pandya heading to CSK? Mumbai Indians break silence on trade rumours

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) have finally broken the silence on trade rumours involving their captain . MI have denied reports of being in trade talks with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) or any other Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise for Hardik. The clarification comes at a time when speculation has grown rife that Hardik is on his way to CSK from MI.

Hardik’s future became a matter of intense speculation after Mumbai Indians endured another disappointing campaign in the IPL 2026 earlier this year. The five-time champions failed to qualify for the playoffs, with many raising doubts over Hardik’s captaincy credentials.

Ever since returning to Mumbai Indians in a trade deal for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024, things have not worked out well for Hardik, who has struggled with form and fitness issues. He has also failed to replicate his heroics as captain for Mumbai Indians after leading Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title in the debut season in 2023.

However, Mumbai Indians have clarified that no decision has been made on any trade deal involving Pandya despite the team’s poor show. A Mumbai Indians spokesperson revealed that the franchise is still conducting its post-season review and the reports of conversations with other franchises over player trades are not correct.

“Our post-season review is currently on, and we are looking into all aspects of the team. Contrary to reports, we are not engaged in conversations with regard to player trades; the same is only possible once the review is complete,” a MI spokesperson was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

“A range of options and ideas are being evaluated, which require time; hence no decisions have been made,” added the franchise’s spokesperson.

Hardik Pandya linked with multiple franchises

Meanwhile, Hardik has been linked with a trade move to multiple franchises ahead of the new season. The pre-auction trading window for IPL 2027 will run until December 2026. Several franchises, including CSK, Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), have been linked with a move for Hardik.

Hardik is one of the best all-rounders in T20 cricket at present and has a terrific record in the IPL. He has won multiple IPL titles with Mumbai Indians and has also led Gujarat Titans to a title, while helping them reach back-to-back finals. He has been heavily linked with a move to CSK.

As per rumours, CSK are willing to offer two players or two players and cash in exchange for Hardik from Mumbai Indians. KKR and Delhi Capitals reportedly too are in the race to sign the India all-rounder and it remains to be seen if MI will decide to let go of Hardik.
