Greater Noida horror: Family of 5, including 3 children, found dead; poisoning suspected

New Delhi: Five members of a family including three children, were found dead at their home in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida on Saturday morning, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Earlier, the officials suspected possible food poisoning but now the latest statement and investigation by the Food Safety Officer have given a new twist to the case, raising serious questions about the cause of death, as cited by a TV9 Hindi reporter.

A team from the Food Safety Department arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. Food Safety Officer OP Singh stated that food poisoning typically causes initial symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal cramps. In this case, no such symptoms were found.

According to OP Singh, preliminary inspection of the food items does not clearly indicate a case of food poisoning. It is suspected that a highly toxic or chemical substance may have played a role in the deaths, which will only be confirmed after a post-mortem examination and viscera examination.

The deceased have been identified as 37-year-old Mahesh, his 35-year-old wife Lalita and their children Laddu (11), Mishti (7) and Sakshat (3). They lived in Nagla Shri Padam village which falls under the Rabupura police station area.

According to earlier information, the family had eaten noodles the previous night before going to sleep. Their bodies were discovered the following morning. The reports also mentioned that frothing at the mouth was observed, although officials have not confirmed whether it was linked to the deaths.

Serious allegations against mother-in-law and sister-in-law

The recent twist in the case is that the deceased Lalita’s parents have made serious allegations to the police. The family claimed that Lalita had a long-standing dispute with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law over the ownership of 10 bighas of land and a house.

They also expressed serious suspicions of murder. However, the police said that the allegations are being investigated.

Forensic reports being investigated

Police have also stated that the post-mortems are being conducted on all five bodies. Greater Noida DCP Shravan Kumar said Viscera will be preserved and sent for chemical testing to determine the exact cause of death. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into every aspect, including land disputes and rivalry.
