Gold futures trade flat amid tepid demand

New Delhi: Gold prices remained flat at Rs 1,59,650 per 10 grams in futures trade amid muted spot demand. The yellow metal contracts for the October delivery traded down by Rs 13 or 0.01 per cent, in a business turnover of 9,291 lots. Earlier in the session, gold futures dropped as much as Rs 2,971 to a low of Rs 1,56,692 per 10 grams from the previous close of Rs 1,59,663. Analysts attributed the decline in precious metal prices to weaker spot demand. Globally, gold futures edged up by 0.23 per cent to $4,601.64 per ounce in New York.

Silver futures settle marginally lower

Silver prices were nearly flat at Rs 2,39,607 per kilogram in futures trade on Thursday as participants reduced their bets. Silver contracts for September delivery declined by 0.01 per cent in a business turnover of 6,876 lots. Analysts said a sell-off by participants mainly weighed on silver prices. Globally, the white metal was trading 0.35 per cent lower at $68.35 per ounce in New York.

Brent crude trade lower at $86.81/bbl

Crude oil price fell by Rs 126 to Rs 7,771 per barrel in futures trade on Thursday amid weak global trends. Crude oil futures for the September delivery slipped by 1.6 per cent in a business turnover of 7,020 lots. Analysts said the prices fell after participants offloaded their holdings amid weak demand in the spot market. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude fell 1.33 per cent to $81.14 per barrel, while Brent crude declined 1.17 per cent to $86.81 per barrel in New York.
