Fresh threat email targets Mumbai Mayor’s office, Amitabh Bachchan and Diljit Dosanjh concert

New Delhi: Amid the Tiger Shroff firing case investigation, a threatening email naming Mumbai Mayor Ritu Rajesh Tawde, Punjabi singer ’s upcoming Mumbai concert and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was received on Friday (October 23) morning, raising fresh security concerns around high-profile public figures and entertainment events in the city.

The development comes at a time when security around Dosanjh’s India tour is already under scrutiny. His Delhi concert, scheduled for October 30 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, was recently denied police permission over specific threat-related inputs and other law-and-order concerns.

Threat email mentions Diljit Dosanjh, Amitabh Bachchan

According to reports, the email threatened to target the Mumbai Mayor’s office as well as Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour concert, which is scheduled to be held at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27. Amitabh Bachchan was also mentioned in the threat.

Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert denied permission

Delhi Police informed ticketing partner BookMyShow that permission could not be granted for the October 30 show. However, as of Thursday evening, the concert continued to be listed on the ticketing platform.

In its letter to BookMyShow, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South District) cited specific security inputs along with increased law-and-order responsibilities during the festive season.

“With reference to your application, I am to inform you that your request for organising Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour Delhi at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 30.10.2026 has been examined by this office. In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law and order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law and order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to,” the letter stated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal confirmed that permission had not been granted, but did not disclose further details.

According to a senior police officer quoted in reports, the security concerns also came against the backdrop of a hoax bomb-threat email sent to several Delhi schools on October 15.

One of the emails reportedly warned students against attending Dosanjh’s October 30 concert and also contained pro-Khalistani slogans. Six schools reportedly received the threat email, including The British School, Mount Carmel, Ahlcon International School and Ahlcon Public School.

Dosanjh and his team have not yet publicly commented on the development.

Tiger Shroff’s attackers recede Amitabh’s Mumbai

Police sources had earlier said that the accused in the firing case initially considered targeting Salman Khan and allegedly conducted reconnaissance outside his Mumbai residence. The plan was reportedly abandoned after they noticed a heavy police presence around the actor’s home. According to IANS, investigators believe the accused arrived in Mumbai around a month before the firing and allegedly surveyed the residences of several prominent Bollywood actors. Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan were among the names that emerged during the investigation.

Tiger Shroff firing probe widens

Meanwhile, the number of arrests in the firing case has reached 10, with the investigation extending across several states. Three key accused were brought to Mumbai from Kota in Rajasthan and remanded to police custody until October 31.

Four others – Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita, were later brought to Mumbai following their arrests by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Investigators are examining their alleged roles in the attack and their possible connections with the other accused. Police are also probing the alleged involvement and links of several other individuals whose names have surfaced during the investigation, including Shubham Lonkar, Sameer and Anil Pandit. Preliminary ballistic findings indicate that two country-made firearms may have been used in the shooting. The weapons have not yet been recovered.
