Finance Minister Sitharaman To Launch Heritage Book Based In Tamil Nadu
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman began his official visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry with a full schedule of outreach, education, and conservation initiatives for the historic monuments on Thursday.

FM Sitharaman, the chief minister of the central branch of the BJP, arrived in Chennai from New Delhi on Wednesday night. The publication of “Daughters of Kanchi – The SSKV Story” at the SSKV College of Arts and Science for Women in Kanchipuram is the first major event of her visit on Thursday, where she will launch the book. Except for the book launch, Sitharaman is likely to engage with students, academicians and local residents in education and outreach activities in Kanchipuram district.
Meanwhile, the publication chronicles the institution’s history and contributions, highlighting its role in promoting women’s education and empowerment in the region.
Furthermore, the finance minister, who has always taken pride in promoting Kanchipuram’s exquisite handloom tradition across the country, has visited the town on several occasions. She was the first to draw notice when she was spotted presenting the Union Budget in a handwoven deep magenta-maroon Kanjeevaram silk saree with elaborate gold zari embroidery. This was perceived as an homage to the temple town’s traditional weavers.
Later in the day, Sitharaman will travel to Puducherry, where she will inaugurate the renovated historic lighthouse at the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Commissionerate campus at 5.30 p.m. The goal of the restoration project is to conserve an important historic landmark while improving its heritage value.
Additionally, the 400-year-old Muzhiankul will be inaugurated at the Government Middle School in Puducherry on Friday by the Finance Minister. The project is part of a larger effort to preserve historic buildings, enhance public facilities and amenities, and promote a higher quality of life for the community.
As a result, the two-day visit highlights the Centre’s emphasis on public involvement, cultural preservation, and education development in locally important projects in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
