‘Don’t worry about lathis’: Rahul Gandhi urges people to join ‘Chalo Dilli’ march

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took to social media platform, ‘X’, to invite people to join the “Chalo Dilli” protest, planned for November 1 at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. He urged student groups from across the political spectrum to take part in the movement calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar over voter irregularities and vote theft.

He said that there was only 1 protest and that was “India’s protest” in his social media post. Gandhi clarified that the “Chalo dilli” march was not the march of any particular political party. It was, he said, the march of India’s soul. He further said that all the people were tired of PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar.

He urged all those who wished to save the Constitution and democracy to come and take part in this march.

Asking people not to worry about police action, Gandhi wrote, “Don’t worry about the police, don’t worry about lathis – the BJP will not have the guts to try any of their antics.”

Urging people to come and join Sunday’s march, he said that they would walk together to protect the Constitution and the Indian nation. He added that there was no need to worry.

Addressing students Gandhi said, “I urge all student groups, regardless of your political affiliation – if you feel that India is under attack, if you feel you are under attack, your expression, your ideas, your way of thinking is under attack, come and join us.”

He said that this would be a fantastic march and this is for the “soul of the country.” Gandhi ended his ‘X’ post by saying that he was looking forward to seeing everyone at the protest site.
