‘Disgusting, characterless person who eats beef’: Nikita Rawal slams Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram
New Delhi: Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s has received mixed reactions. Now, actress Nikita Rawal has slammed the actor and said that she doesn’t believe that “Ranbir is the right choice for the role”.

What did Nikita Rawal say?
Speaking with Bollywood Mscot, she cited ‘s past statement about eating beef, saying that it hurts religious sentiments of Hindus.
He further called the actor “disgusting and characterless”. She was quoted as saying, “This character is not for Ranbir Kapoor at all. Such a disgusting and characterless person, who eats beef and has said this publicly. What do you think that such a person will be able to understand the character of Rama?”
Questioning the makers about the casting of the film, she said, “Giving this character to such a person, who is openly saying that he is eating beef, this is an insult to the faith, feelings and character of Rama.” She also asked why religious groups were not speaking up over the issue.
She further added, “No matter what anyone says, I will say, and I will keep saying, that this disgusting person who eats beef can neither understand the character of Rama, nor can he portray him properly.”
Nikita wants Ranbir Kapoor to apologise
She also demanded apology from Ranbir Kapoor. “He will have to apologise, because this is not just a question of his personal life; this is a question of the faith of crores of people,” adding that playing such important character comes with responsibility and people’s emotions should be respected.
Nikita calls for boycott of Ramayana
Nikita Rawal even called for the boycott of the film, Ramayana. She said, “I feel that boycott this, I will keep running the hashtag boycott. He will come and apologise to the feelings of lakhs of people… otherwise I don’t think that this is the right thing to do.”

What did Ranbir Kapoor say on playing Lord Ram
During the panel discussion at San-Diego Comic-Con, Ranbir opened up about playing Lord Ram.
He said, “I remember when the film was first offered to me, there was so much of fear, so much of doubt. ‘Will I be able to do this, am I capable enough?’ But I think that doubt changed into gratitude very early on. I think it was a blessing, an opportunity of a lifetime, and a moral responsibility. The Ramayana is ingrained in our subconscious.”
He added, “Lord Rama is the conscience keeper of millions of people around the world for generations, for more than 4000 years. He is somebody who embodies the triumph of the human spirit in times of adversities. He stands for courage, compassion, forgiveness, righteousness, and just to have the opportunity to represent that is very daunting.”
