Delhi liquor booking app launched: How to pre-order online and pick up in store

New Delhi: Buying liquor in Delhi might soon involve a lot less waiting in line, as the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has introduced an advance booking facility through its dedicated mobile application, offering local buyers an easier route to secure their preferred bottles.

With the app launched, the initiative does not include home delivery. Once a customer books and pays online, they still have to visit the designated store in person within 48 hours to collect their purchase.

The process on the ‘Delhi Liquor Booking’ app is straightforward. Users can browse currently stocked brands, choose their nearest outlet, and select the specific bottle size and quantity. Once the digital payment goes through, the app generates a unique QR code.

At the store, the buyer simply presents the code at the counter for scanning to receive the order. Officials rolled out the setup primarily to curb persistent crowding, speed up retail handling, and bring cleaner transparency to daily billing.

Purchase caps and mandatory age limits

Standard excise rules apply strictly across the digital platform. To place an order, buyers must be at least 25 years of age, which remains the legal drinking age in the capital.

There are also statutory limits on how much an individual can purchase at a time: up to 9 litres of whisky and 18 litres of beer. Return policies are strict as well. Once a product is handed over or picked up from the outlet, it cannot be returned. However, the app does allow users to cancel their booking as long as the order has not yet been collected from the shop.

Rollout across 208 outlets and future scope

Across Delhi, four government corporations manage over 700 retail liquor stores. DSIIDC itself operates around 200 of them, but this advance booking facility is currently restricted to its 208 designated vendors.
