Deemed university status within a month for Alva’s, assures Joshi
Mangaluru: Union Education, Food and Public Distribution, Consumer Affairs and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre on Monday, 21 September, at the Smt. Shobha Mohan Alva campus in Mijar, Moodbidri.

He assured the audience that formal recognition of Alva’s as a deemed university would arrive within another month. Joshi recalled that families from Mumbai-Karnataka travel to Dharmasthala for faith and to Alva’s in Moodbidri for learning, adding that the Alva family enjoys divine blessing. Indian culture, he said, teaches people to earn with a hundred hands and give with a thousand; Alva’s institutions illustrate that ethic by serving the vulnerable.
“The world is ageing while India remains young, and confidence in Indian doctors and nurses is rising, so Dakshina Kannada should grow into a worldwide medical centre. Medical research must stay humane; students need skill plus courage, qualities already present in India’s service tradition,” he said.
Joshi hoped more start-ups would emerge from Karnataka and Dakshina Kannada and that fresh ideas would come from the medical field. “Youth face abundant chances; the Centre has set aside 2.5 lakh crore Rupees for research. The twenty-first century belongs to India, and a developed India will stand ready by 2047,” he added.
