Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan And CM Chandrababu Naidu Mourn For Sowcar Janaki’s Demise

Tollywood’s legendary actress Sowcar Janaki passed away this afternoon around 2 PM in Chennai. She breathed her last at the age of 94 at a private hospital in Chennai. As said earlier, the mortal remains of Sowcar Janaki will be kept at Centoph Road in Teynampet for the public to pay their last respects from 5 PM.

Tollywood’s ace actors like Junior NTR, Vishnu Manchu, Radikaa Sarathkumar have already expressed their grief through social media. Now, Megastar Chiranjeevi, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, Kamal Haasan and a few others also mourned for Sowcar Janaki’s demise and expressed their grief through social media.

His post reads, “The news of the demise of the renowned actress and Padma Shri awardee Srividya Janaki garu has caused immense sorrow. Her illustrious cinematic journey, which began with the film ‘Shavukaru,’ spanned nearly seven decades across Telugu, Tamil, and several other languages. With her natural acting, she breathed life into diverse roles and earned an indelible place in the hearts of audiences. She was a great actress whose contributions to the Indian film industry will remain unforgettable. Praying to the Almighty for eternal peace to the soul of Srividya Janaki garu, I convey my deepest condolences to her family members and fans. Om Shanti”.

His post reads, “From the film ‘Looking at it would quench hunger’* to spanning four decades, we have worked together in many films. She was the mother, I the child. The irreplaceable acting artist of South Indian cinema, Sowcar Janaki. She acted with all the heroes of that time. She was the preferred choice of my guru K. Balachander. She has passed away. A maternal image has departed. I bid her farewell with tears”.

Even Telangana CMO mourned for this iconic actress and shared an official note on social media.

Sowcar Janaki was born on December 12, 1931, in Rajahmundry and participated in radio programs at a very young age. After establishing herself as a stage performer, she made her silver-screen debut with Sowkar in 1950.

Sowcar Janaki acted in 400 movies and will always be remembered for her memorable roles on the silver screens.
