Archana Puran Singh wants stronger roles in Bollywood again

Mumbai:Television personality and actor Archana Puran Singh is known for comedy roles in several Hindi films. The actress seems to enjoy the role of judge in the The Kapil Sharma Show more than playing roles in movies now.

The actress has recently revealed that she enjoys being the judge of the popular comedy show ‘ The Kapil Sharma Show’  which is loved by most of the Indians. Despite being a good actor who was known for nailing the comedy scenes perfectly, Archana Puran Singh believes her film career never really took off.

The 63 years old actress recently said that she was not offered any role for around 10 years after her film Bol Bachchan. She also mentioned that she has been struggling to land meatier roles during an interview with one of the leading entertainment portals. She said that she was praised for her performances especially in in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri-starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (2024) and Vivek Daschaudhary’s Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra-starrer Toaster (2026) but was not offered any role further.

The actress said that she does get brand endorsement offers, but not movie roles. She said that she is not getting roles even after playing such a good role in the Toaster movie. She said, ‘ Great roles aren’t coming in yet. I would want to reiterate that line for all the filmmakers out there. I want to act, but our industry is very different, and it’s okay, I guess.”

Archana Singh shared that after Bol Bachchan she was expecting various roles and was even praised by trade analysts but nothing came her way. She said that she was expecting to call those who analysed that i would get roles after Bol Bachchan but for ten years she did not get any role.

The actress said, ” Our industry is very peculiar. There could be so many reasons. A lot of filmmakers thought that I was busy doing comedy shows and, therefore, wouldn’t be able to give them my dates. When I was doing the TV show, I couldn’t even take up the few films that were offered to me. I couldn’t have managed a 15-day schedule in Scotland.”

Archana Puran Singh began her acting career in the 1980s and appeared in several films, including Agneepath, Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Bol Bachchan, and Housefull 4. She is one of the best actors known for playing the comedy and supporting actor roles.

Archana Sing is widely praised for the The Kapil Sharma Show where she is seen as a judge. The actor is known for adding more fun to every joke at the comedy show with her infectious laughter.  She will be next seen in Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya, directed by Himank Gaur. The show also stars Kay Kay Menon, Naveen Kasturia, Deven Bhojani and Abhimanyu Singh. The show is set to premiere on Prime Video on 24 July.
