Amazon unveils ambitious 300-city quick commerce rollout
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy on Wednesday began his India visit with a stop at an Amazon Now micro-fulfilment centre in Mumbai, as the e-commerce giant announced plans to expand its quick commerce service to more than 300 cities and build what it calls India’s largest delivery-in-minutes network. The visit comes weeks after Amazon committed an additional $35 billion investment in India by 2030, over and above the $40 billion it has already invested in the country, to support business expansion, AI-led digitisation, exports and job creation.

Jassy, who is expected to meet business leaders, employees and entrepreneurs during his trip, said Amazon Now has emerged as the company’s fastest-growing e-commerce business unit in India.
“Great to be in India and visit an Amazon Now micro-fulfilment centre in one of the busiest areas of Mumbai,” Jassy said in a post on X, adding that the service would expand to over 300 cities. He said learnings from building the business in India are now helping Amazon scale similar operations in the US and other markets.
According to the company, Prime members triple their shopping frequency after adopting Amazon Now, while orders have doubled every quarter since the service was launched. Currently available to more than 50 million customers across over 15 metro and non-metro cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi and Amritsar, Amazon Now offers rapid delivery of groceries, personal care products, beauty items, fashion, home essentials, small appliances and other daily-use products.
