After the suicide of teacher husband, the helpless wife fought the system… Former BSA Shalini Srivastava arrested for taking bribe of Rs 16 lakh, what was the matter?

Deoria News: Police has got a big success in the suicide case of famous teacher Krishna Mohan Singh of Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. The main accused in the case and former Basic Education Officer (BSA) of Deoria Shalini Srivastava has been arrested by the police from Delhi. Shalini Srivastava was absconding for the last four months. The police had also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for the arrest of him and Basic Education Office clerk (Babu) Sanjeev Singh.
Krishna Mohan Singh, originally a resident of Kushinagar, was appointed as a teacher in Farmers Small Secondary School (Madrasan) located in Gauribazar police station area of Deoria district in the year 2016. After this, in the year 2022, on the basis of STF investigation, he was dismissed and his salary was also stopped. The teacher approached the High Court against his dismissal, where the court ruled in his favor. Even after getting relief from the High Court, the Education Department of Deoria was continuously procrastinating in complying with its order. It is alleged that the officers and officials of the department were repeatedly demanding huge bribes from him in exchange for work and for not giving the demanded amount, he was being mentally humiliated.
Video message and 4-page suicide note
Hurt by the department's harassment, Krishna Mohan Singh had committed suicide at his residence in Gorakhpur. Just before committing suicide, he had released a video message on social media, in which he held Babu and officials of Basic Education Department, Deoria responsible for his death. Apart from this, a four-page suicide note was also recovered from his pocket, in which the entire story of torture was recorded.
Wife had paid Rs 16 lakh as bribe allegation
On February 22, 2026, Gudiya Singh, wife of teacher Krishna Mohan Singh, had filed a case against the then BSA Shalini Srivastava, clerk Sanjeev Singh and an unknown person at Gulharia police station in Gorakhpur for forcing them to commit suicide. Gudiya Singh had alleged that BSA Shalini Srivastava and Babu Sanjeev Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 16 lakh in return for complying with the High Court order. She had paid this amount by borrowing from relatives and mortgaging her jewellery. Despite this, the teacher was being continuously harassed demanding more money.
The police have already arrested the accused retired principal Anirudh Singh in this case and sent him to jail. Police teams were continuously raiding many districts in search of other accused. According to the police, the location of Shalini Srivastava, originally from Ballia, was tracked in Delhi, after which the police team raided there and arrested her. The second main accused in the case, clerk Sanjeev Singh, is still absconding, for whose arrest police teams are making continuous efforts.
