Actor Shiraz Mehdi raises concerns over theatre access for small films
The actor and filmmaker Shiraz Mehdi has raised an issue about the lack of theatre facilities for small films in the Telugu film industry. Speaking at a press conference in Prasads Labs here, he said that support must be given to independent producers. He alleged that the small producers are suffering huge losses due to the lack of theatre screening.

Further adding that even after discussing multiple times with media about the issue, his film “O Andala Rakshasi” is still struggling with the theatre screening. Shiraz also accused digital cinema platforms Qube and UFO for making small producers pay a hefty amount for some services. He alleged that Telugu Film Chamber is misleading the small producers and even some multiplexes have pulled out of the deal despite giving assurance earlier.
The actor also mentioned that legal notice has been sent to them. He requested to the chief minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy to look into the matter and take necessary steps for the welfare of the art. He also suggested providing health insurance facilities to the employees in the film industry.
Ahmed, comedian Jabardasth Parthu, and former ACP Laxman also expressed their concern about the issue. R.V. Reddy, an advocate-producer asked new generation filmmakers to understand the nuances of the film before jumping into the industry.
