Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Wife Sangeetha Withdraws Divorce Case

The wife of Tamil Nadu chief minister C Joseph Vijay, Sangeetha withdrew the divorce petition submitted to the Chengalpattu court and the case has apparently been closed after.

When Sangeetha’s plea was heard, she appeared in court conference, according to sources cited by the PTI news agency. After that, she provided justifications for not pursuing her case.

According to official court sources, the court disposed her petition as withdrawn.

The divorce case between CM Vijay and his wife was postponed by the local court on June 15, with a new hearing set for August 7.

In order to dissolution their marriage, Sangeetha filed a divorce petition under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, with the Chengalpattu court in February 2026. According to reports, the petition claimed that the marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and accused adultery, mental cruelty, neglect, and desertion.

The petition stated that Sangeetha learned in 2021 that Vijay was reportedly having an extramarital affair with an actress, as reported by the PTI news agency and a number of other sources. She claimed that the relationship persisted in spite of promises that it would terminate, causing severe suffering and a slow dissolution of their marriage.

According to the lawsuit, Vijay also withheld financial, emotional, and physical assistance from her, isolated her from his public and professional appearances, and gradually separated himself from family life.

Jason Sanjay and Divya Saasha are the couple’s two children. They were originally married in the UK in 1998 then had a conventional wedding in Chennai in 1999.

The controversy came into light after Sangeetha stopped going to public events with Vijay, there had been separation rumors about their relationship for a while, but neither of them had addressed the rumors until the court filing.
