Confusion over August installment: CM Suvendu Adhikari announces dates, updates for Annapurna Yojana

New Delhi: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari cleared the air regarding the disbursal of funds under the Annapurna Yojana, revealing the exact schedule for the pending August installment and outlining the fixed monthly payment timeline going forward.

Launching the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from Nabanna—scheduled to be observed from August 9 to August 17—the Chief Minister addressed the ongoing confusion surrounding the scheme’s payout dates.

Timeline for Annapurna Yojana payments

CM Adhikari assured beneficiaries that the August funds would be credited shortly and outlined a transparent process for future transfers: Disbursal of Re 3,000 will begin on August 17.

Applications received up to July 10 have been fully verified. Applications submitted between July 11 and July 31 are currently undergoing final processing. Moving forward, as long as the BJP government remains in power, payments will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts during the second week of every month, he added.

A detailed announcement regarding eligible candidates will be made during a press conference on August 10.

“Applications were accepted online and offline from June through July 31. Out of a total of 2.16 crore applications, the verification process is almost complete. Disbursements of Rs 3,000 will start from August 17. There is no need for confusion,” the Chief Minister stated.

Allegations regarding previous administration

During the address, CM Adhikari launched a sharp attack on the previous government, alleging systemic corruption and inconsistent payouts under the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme.

Highlighting historical payment records, he noted that after giving Rs 500 to over 1.52 crore people in September 2021, payments were abruptly halted. Similarly, sporadic transfers occurred in early and mid-2022 with months of gaps in between. “We have all the accounts. We do not operate like that,” he added, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to accountability.

Warning against misinformation

The Chief Minister issued a stern warning to individuals spreading false information regarding the social welfare scheme.

“We are tracking those who are circulating fake news and misleading information on social media. Strict legal action will be taken against them,” CM Adhikari warned.
