New Delhi: have officially announced the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €140 million (€125m + €15m), as per The Athletic. The 19-year-old forward has signed a seven-year contract in the Spanish capital through to 2033.

The Ivory Coast international joined RB Leipzig’s pre-season training camp in Austria on Monday before the German club’s board approved the transfer, with Real Madrid announcing the player on Thursday, August 6.

The Athletic has also reported on July 26 that Los Blancos had been expected to reach an agreement to sign the Ivorian winger, after Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the negotiations. Liverpool were also previously interested in the RB Leipzig player.
‘Moving to Real Madrid is a childhood dream come true for me’: Diomande
Diomande made a return to training at RB Leipzig in June after his World Cup campaign with Ivory Coast but did not travel with the team to the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria on Saturday, with both clubs continuously engaged in negotiations over his transfer.
Leipzig said that Diomande did not travel with the squad because he was unwell, insisting his absence had no connection to his future. The Ivorian winger had previously made Champions League title holder PSG his preferred destination this summer, but his preference changed to Madrid as the window progressed.
“Moving to Real Madrid is a childhood dream come true for me. I am all the more grateful to the management at RB Leipzig for making this move possible despite my current contract,” Diomande said upon the move being completed.
He joined Leipzig last summer after spending half a season with Leganes. The forward scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 36 matches in his first season in Germany and also played in all four of Ivory Coast’s World Cup matches as they were knocked out in the round of 32 by Norway.
Real Madrid have already completed the signings of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi this summer, while the club is also working on a deal to sign Rodri from Manchester City.
