Harmanpreet Kaur to lead as BCCI announces India’s squad for Women’s Asia Cup 2026
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain and will continue to lead the side in the premier continental tournament, which will feature the top teams from Asia.

There are no major surprises in India’s 15-member squad for the tournament. There were question marks over Harmanpreet’s future as captain after the Women in Blue failed to qualify for the semifinals of the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year. However, the selectors have retained the senior batter.
Smriti Mandhana, who is one of the leading contenders to take over India’s captaincy after Harmanpreet, has been named India’s vice-captain for the tournament. She will spearhead India’s star-studded batting line-up, which consists of the likes of Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh, among others.
Bharti Fulmali, who was part of India’s Women’s T20 World Cup squad, has also retained her spot in the side as a middle-order batter and finisher. Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav are the two all-rounders in the side. Renuka Thakur will lead India’s pace attack, which features Arundhati Reddy, Krati Gaud and Nandni Sharma.
Sree Charani is the lone specialist spinner in the side, while G Kamalini has been selected as the second wicket-keeper.
Pratika Rawal in reserves
Star opening batter Pratika Rawal has been kept in the reserves for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026. She will be joined by Vaishnavi Sharma, Minnu Mani, pacer Sayali Satghare and wicket-keeper Uma Chetry in the reserves.
India have a strong squad and will start the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 as one of the favourites. The Women in Blue have won the title seven times and are the most successful team in the tournament’s history. India lost to Sri Lanka in the final of the last edition of the Women’s Asia Cup in 2024. The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 will consist of eight teams and will be played in T20I format.
